Suyana Learning Exchange 2026: Strengthening partnerships through shared learning

Bringing partners together in Uganda
From 20 to 24 April 2026, Suyana organised a Learning Exchange in Soroti, Uganda, bringing together teams and partner organisations from Uganda and Rwanda for a week of collaboration, reflection and capacity strengthening.
The Learning Exchange brought together partners from Rwanda — Dufatanye Organisation, Rwanda Rural Rehabilitation Initiative (RWARRI) and Rwanda Youth Voice for Peace (RYVC) — and from Uganda — Teso In Peace (TIP), Children’s Chance International (CCI) and InPact— to share experiences and explore practical ways to strengthen their projects.
Strengthening technical capacities
Through a combination of technical sessions, group work and peer exchange, participants engaged with key thematic areas including Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), Agriculture, Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), and Business Development.
The selection of these thematic areas was the result of prior exchanges with partners, reflecting their identified needs, priorities and interests. This collaborative approach ensured that the sessions were relevant, practical and closely aligned with the realities of the different organisations.
Throughout the week, sessions focused on strengthening technical knowledge while encouraging reflection on how to apply these learnings in participants’ respective contexts.
.

From knowledge to action
From improving data collection and analysis to exploring climate-smart agriculture practices, strengthening savings groups and developing sustainable income-generating activities, the exchange fostered both practical skills and strategic thinking.
Participants were able to identify concrete ways to integrate these learnings into their ongoing projects and adapt them to their local realities.
Building stronger connections
Beyond the technical sessions, the Learning Exchange created a strong dynamic of exchange among participants. The programme combined group work within individual organisations and mixed group sessions, encouraging cross-learning and dialogue between partners.
This alternation of formats allowed participants to share their own experiences while also learning from others, fostering mutual understanding, trust and collaboration. Informal discussions and shared moments further contributed to building a strong sense of community throughout the week.
A key highlight of the Learning Exchange was the active participation and engagement of all partners, whose contributions enriched the discussions and strengthened the collective learning process.

Looking ahead
Suyana would like to sincerely thank all participants and partners for their commitment and contributions, as well as Teso In Peace (TIP) for hosting the Learning Exchange in Soroti.
This Learning Exchange reaffirmed the importance of shared learning as a driver of impact and strengthened Suyana’s commitment to fostering collaboration across countries and partners.
