La Paz, April 27, 2026

In partnership with the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, through the Department of Research, Postgraduate Studies and Social Interaction (DIPGIS), Fundación Suyana carried out the agreement signing with 21 scholarship beneficiaries.

Currently, Fundación Suyana supports 35 students from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés. Of these, 11 are in the final stage of completing their studies, while the remaining students continue their academic training.

The scholarship recipients are enrolled in programs within the faculties of Agronomy, Education Sciences, and Medicine, both in the city of La Paz and in academic branches such as Ixiamas, Puerto Acosta, and Viacha.

A program that promotes student retention and holistic development

The scholarship project aims not only to facilitate access to higher education, but also to ensure students’ retention and academic progress, strengthening their educational journey continuously through to the job placement process.

Through this project, academic continuity without interruptions is encouraged, along with participation in volunteer activities and field experiences alongside the Foundation’s mobile teams, allowing scholarship recipients to engage directly with community-based work.

In addition, the program promotes holistic development by strengthening soft skills, financial education, and entrepreneurial capacities.

Scholarship modalities tailored to different stages

The project includes different scholarship modalities, tailored to the students’ needs and stages of academic development.

The Generación Scholarship is aimed at students beginning their university education, while the Estrella Scholarship supports students in advanced stages who have demonstrated academic commitment.

Meanwhile, the Generación Emprendedor Scholarship, introduced during the current term, is designed for students with productive initiatives. In this edition, beneficiaries are developing ventures such as poultry production, honey production, and handicraft making. This modality also includes ongoing training in entrepreneurship and management, strengthening their capacities to generate sustainable income.

Commitment to Community Development

Through this project, Fundación Suyana is committed to training professionals dedicated to human and social development, capable of generating impact in their communities through their knowledge and experiences.

Because when a young woman or young man gains access to opportunities, the impact does not remain with just one person — it multiplies.

During the event, Adelei Mancilla, an Estrella Scholarship recipient and a student in the final stage of the Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science program, shared her experience within the program:

“My journey with Fundación Suyana began in 2024, at a key moment in my academic life. Thanks to this support, I was able to complete my studies, strengthen my performance, and grow professionally through internships and research opportunities,” she stated.
